When it comes to trail riding on a mountain bike, speed and endurance are key skills that riders need to hone in order to get the most out of their ride. The Halfords Apollo Jewel mountain bike helps riders to do this with two key components;
First, there’s a lightweight aluminium frame, which helps to keep the entire bike to just 14kg. Using a conventional mountain bike frame shape and sloping top tube, you’ll get optimum body positioning for both intense climbs and speedy descents.
Secondly, there’s the 18 speed Shimano gear set. Smooth gear transitions and a wider choice of gears help riders to get up hills faster, with no clunky switches or small cogs to slow everything down. Every gear change will feel extra smooth thanks to the premium Shimano Tourney front mech and Shimano Revoshift gear shifters.
Stopping quickly is covered too, with durable, low-maintenance steel V-brakes offering consistent and controlled braking on descents.
Stay Comfortable
Staying comfortable on even the bumpiest terrain is also made easy on the Apollo Jewel. To absorb the rocks and tree roots there’s front coil suspension, offering 80mm of travel to take most of the energy out of the front wheel (and therefore your arms!).
Climbing hills, skimming over bumps and maintaining traction on loose surfaces are all vitally important when it comes to mountain bike riding, so a set of 27.5 inch wheels and tyres to help riders to gain additional grip on challenging surfaces.
